This is a common problem because we all want our horses to look nice and behave well. Sometimes those two objectives are at odds with each other. My advice on how to avoid the sedative drug trap:
- feed a high quality hay and a ration balancer; feed no conventional hi-carb grain
- develop your horsemanship skills—watch their ears and move their feet
- supplement wisely for example magnesium oxide @1-2 oz per day
- try a Liquid Titanium mask for calming effect
